"Articles by Jeffrey Lawton"

When the name "Jeffrey Lawton" comes up most people in the Bally Bingo world know exactly who he is. However, for those new to bingos or for those who have not read his book "Bally Bingo Pinball Machines" I will give a brief introduction. Jeffrey started working on bingos as a teenager in the early 1950's. At 17 he owned two games, one was a Yatch Club. Jeffrey spent many years working for AT&T making a living, but always lived to work on his bingos. In the early 90's Jeffrey left AT&T and since has spent most of his time collecting, restoring, and repairing bingos. Jeffrey writes articles about pinball which are published in a variety of pinball magizines. Jeffrey's knowledge is not restricted to bingos. He is experienced in the repair/restoration of almost all types of arcade games, but like myself his passion is bingos. I must express a sincere thanks to Jeffrey for the many hours he spent patiently helping me get started correctly as I learned to repair/restore bingos. I also express my thanks to Jeffrey for his book and the knowledge it contains. After all these years I still refer to it often. Please welcome Jeffrey to OLDBINGER.COM.

Introduction : About Jeffrey Lawton, oldbinger.com supporter & author of Bally Bingo Pinball Machines.

I've been working on some sort of pinball machine since the late 1950s. I started working weekends and evenings for A1 Amusements in Trenton NJ for Frankie Mondelo at the age of 16. My first two pinball games (I got at 17), College Daze (Gottlieb flipper) and Yacht Club (Bally® bingo). I still have the Yacht Club in my collection today and IT WORKS GOOD after all these years. I switched to Pearl Vending Service in Trenton NJ while attending college. For the next 29 years I worked for A. T. & T as a middle manager. After leaving A. T. & T. in 1994 I now work full time collecting, restoring, repairing and occasionally selling pinball machines. “Funny”, “You work on pinballs as a young boy, take 29 years off, and right back into pinballs.”

I am married to my lovely wife Carol, have three grown children and four grandchildren.

I currently write articles for Game Room magazine as The Bingo Doctor and I am the Bingo Editor for PinGame Journal magazine, providing numerous articles and support to readers who have bingo game questions or problems. Now I am happy to be sharing my stories with the patrons of my friend, Hugh Kown, at “OldBinger.com”.

I have made many great friendships while enjoying the pinball hobby and I have had the chance to learn from many pinball technicians far smarter then I. The stories Hugh & I post here are my way of saying thanks to all those who have helped me through out my career.
